Matt
Family rebuilt. Purpose found.
Matt, a former resident of the Discipleship Home, overcame addiction and multiple institutional stays after a desperate prayer pointed him toward a different path. When Next Chapter determined another program would better fit his needs, they helped guide him to Bridge Street Mission in Wausau.
He graduated there, became an assistant resident manager, found employment, rebuilt relationships with his daughters, enrolled in school, and became active in ministry and church. He later accepted a Residential Care Staff position at Bridge Street Mission.
Ron
A fresh start.
Ron came to the Discipleship Home after graduating from the Salvation Army ARC program in Milwaukee and was looking for a fresh start in La Crosse.
Finding employment took persistence, but he stayed diligent. He eventually secured the job he had been looking for and began preparing to make La Crosse his permanent home.
Dan
A different path became possible.
Dan connected with a Next Chapter Reentry Navigator while in jail and feared that another chance would simply end in the same cycle. Next Chapter advocated for a treatment-focused alternative and helped secure a placement in the Salvation Army ARC work therapy program in Milwaukee.
Dan embraced the opportunity, advanced to a front-desk role, graduated, found employment at American Family Field, and chose to remain around positive influences that supported his sobriety.
Casey
Stability became momentum.
Casey arrived after rehab and while on probation, determined to break his previous cycle. At the Discipleship Home he found stability, obtained work he enjoyed, and quickly earned a promotion.
When a probation miscommunication threatened his progress, Next Chapter’s relationship with the Department of Corrections helped resolve the issue. Casey was hired full-time and moved toward becoming a self-sufficient member of the community.
